US Senate obstructionist leader Harry Reid: Never underestimate a politician’s political spin

The following was found on the web:

No matter what side of the AISLE you’re on, THIS is ……FUNNY!

Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California , was doing some personal work on her own family tree.  She discovered that Senator Harry Reid’s great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor.

The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows in Montana territory:

On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: ‘Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887,  robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.’

So Judy recently e-mailed Senator Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle.

Believe it or not, Harry Reid’s staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her genealogy research:

“Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory.  His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed.”

NOW THAT’s how it’s done, Folks! That’s real POLITICAL SPIN!!!

  1. I hope my other comments were not censored due to their being controversial. They were not inappropriate. I enjoy your websight but am beginning to wonder how it is really different from the mainstream media.

Making light of a hanging as punishment for horse stealing is akin to laughing about Sharia Law. I do not think either is a joke and you as a Christian should not either. There is plenty to joke about, but this is not on e of them whether it is true or not.

    1. Sherman –

Don’t wonder too much. It is not good for a person to become too self-introspective.

I will offer you this, since I think you needlessly took offense to the one moralmatters.org article by fixing all your focus upon the pic of the man about to be hanged. I think that you took the article out of its context and are drumming up something that was not intended. It’s one thing to catch the drift (gist) but another thing to read into something that was not intended:

(Giving and taking offense) – Offense

“An offense is something that is said or done whereby our opinion of God and men is distorted; and an offense is active when I give it, passive when I take (patior) it.” [Luther]

    1. Joel Lillo –

“This,” the story (as it was found on the web) might very well be termed a “hoax.”

Did you read the very first sentence of the article? It said, that “it” was found on the web. This author sometimes posts that which is “found on the web.” I posted it because it was a story which was hilarious.

Furthermore, I expect the web reader to be deft enough to distinguish. Please refer to a section which is on Moralmatters.org “About page:”

Oh, by the way – This Moralmatters.org author does not rely on Snopes.com as it has been known not to be the last word and as it is (and has been) a website which props up Obama’s unconstitutional White House occupancy and his fraudulent unlawful identity activities.

Joel – Thank you for visiting http://www.moralmatters.org and for your comment. Please visit often and read some more future lighthearted material along with all the other serious postings……….

    2. #Joel, If moralmatters posts stupid drivel, why do you visit, read & post then? If you really search for truth, snopes is the last place you should reference.
