Excerpt:

Independence Day is the celebration of the birthday of the United States of America, commonly known as July 4th or the Fourth of July. On July 4th, 1776, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence; thus, breaking ties with the Kingdom of Great Britain, and a new nation was born. The document, primarily written by Thomas Jefferson, served as a formal announcement that the 13 American colonies were no longer part of the British Empire and would henceforth be free and independent states……. – conservapedia.com/

PTSD And TBI Are Not Domestic Violence by Charles E. Corry, Ph.D. – ejfi.org/

Statistics say: 20% of suicides are Veterans

Statistics say: 20% of suicides are committed by Veterans.

Excerpt:

>>>>>>> What manner of fiends are these?

Clearly, radical feminist ideology and the resultant indiscriminate draconian laws with mandatory arrest, no drop prosecution, and primary aggressor policies lead to the wholesale destruction of military careers and their families and children based on the injuries and stress of combat. For doing their duty and honoring the call of their country, radical feminism rewards these men and women with arrest and destruction of their lives if they survive the multiple tours of combat they commonly endure today. Typically these men, and a few women, lose their veteran’s benefits as well when caught up in the nightmare of DV courts, and commonly become homeless mental wrecks, or end up in prison, and, all too often, eventually commit suicide. In 2010 it is estimated that a veteran commits suicide every 18 minutes.
If you are not outraged by such indecent and disgusting treatment of our most honorable citizen soldiers then there is little vestige of humanity in you!

It should be remembered that in the wars of the 20th Century that psychiatric casualties outnumbered physical casualties and the problems often didn’t become apparent for years or decades after the combat. So even after the current wars end these problems will not go away and are virtually certain to grow worse with time.

Dr. Charles Corry authors the excellent and informational website of the Equal Justice Foundation.

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are not limited to soldiers in combat. Any encounter with interpersonal violence can lead to PTSD symptoms and any number of accidents may result in the closed-head injuries that characterize TBI.

The reality is, however, that there are many more civilian cases of PTSD and TBI than among veterans. The problem is not trivial but societies response to these problems is asinine. <<<<<<<< ejfi.org/

Can’t Fix Stupid – Fireworks Foolishness

What’s the old adage?  – “Don’t Play With Fire; You Might Get burned!”

Man blows off part of his genitals with fireworks near Traverse City – “…..More powerful and dangerous fireworks legalized this year by the state Legislature have resulted in some serious injuries around the state, and were blamed for burning down a large, 1,100-family Catholic Church in Kentwood last weekend…….” mlive.com/news/

Moralmatters.org Comment:

I’ve always complained about the loud nasty fireworks in our dwindling mid Michigan town of Bay City, Michigan,  as city politicians have neglected to improve the peace and security of its resident taxpaying citizens.  At present there is no viable ordinance in place and no follow-up law enforcement deterrence to crack down on the 24 / 7  bombardments of persons independently setting off their fireworks in selfish unruly bully fashion. When one logically thinks about it, these capricious peace disturbing loud noises are a bully form of hate speech.  The ungodly nuisance noises perpetrated by these bullies have certainly disturbed the peace and security of small children, babies, seniors, Veterans and many family pets.

I’ve been known to say to my wife that some of these bully people just somehow (seem) to have to prove their manhoods,  making life miserable for others, by their nuisance noises. In this case, the man from Traverse City didn’t prove his manhood at all. He obviously, diminished it.

Has the new firework law turned the streets of Jackson into a war zone? – mlive.com/news/jackson/

Excerpt:

JACKSON, MI — The explosions started about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

For two hours, bangs, booms and pops kept Amy Wise and her 8-month-old son, Vance, awake. Neighbors were setting off fireworks in the middle of the street.

And they have been for a week.

“It was a constant barrage,” said Wise, who lives near Cascades Park. “I thought, ‘This is what it must sound like in Baghdad.'”

Others in Jackson have said the amateur firework displays launched in backyards and on neighborhood streets have made the city and surrounding areas sound as if they are under attack. A looser fireworks law legalized “consumer fireworks,” including roman candles, bottle rockets, mortars and other aerial fireworks.

The law also prohibits local governments from regulating firework use on the day before, of and after national holidays. It is essentially a firework free-for-all for 72 hours surrounding major holidays.

“It was not a good night,” Wise said of July 4. “It sounded like they were going up and down the street just setting them off in the middle of the street every 10 feet.”

Wise said if she did not have Vance in her arms, trying to comfort her 8-month-old back to sleep in the sticky heat, she would have gone out into the street and yelled at her neighbors. Fireworks woke up Wise and Vance three times. One time, she went into his room and saw a scared and panicked look on her screaming son’s face.

She is not anti-fireworks, but Wise wishes people would be more courteous in their celebrations. Wise, who was able to sleep through Tuesday night’s professional display at Cascades Park, does not remember firework noise this bad in the past.

“People do still have to get up and have to work, so listening to fireworks all night longs does not help,” she said.

The new state law curbed the ability of police to enforce local noise ordinances around the Fourth of July. The city of Jackson’s 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. noise ordinance could be used to stop late-night firework displays except for the 72 hours around the holiday.

At least one state lawmaker plans to take people’s complaints to the legislature. State Rep. Marcia Hovey-Wright, D-Muskegon, said she regrets her vote for the new fireworks law……… mlive.com/news/jackson/

The History Of Flag Day

The History Of Flag Day – The Fourth of July was traditionally celebrated as America’s birthday, but the idea of an annual day specifically celebrating the Flag is believed to have first originated in 1885. BJ Cigrand, a schoolteacher, arranged for the pupils in the Fredonia, Wisconsin Public School, District 6, to observe June 14 (the 108th anniversary of the official adoption of The Stars and Stripes) as ‘Flag Birthday’. In numerous magazines and newspaper articles and public addresses over the following years, Cigrand continued to enthusiastically advocate the observance of June 14 as ‘Flag Birthday’, or ‘Flag Day’…… – usflag.org/
